Carl O. Fischer

Pastor Carl Fischer went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 6, 2016 in Bellingham, WA. He slipped away quietly at the age of 92, leaving behind his family and Church who will miss him dearly.

Carl was born with his twin brother, Ralph, on September 1, 1924 in Auburn, MI. His parents were Rev. Fred and Adela (Riess) Fischer. He was a child of the 1930's Dustbowl and economic Depression, living in Rocky Ford, CO. He grew up to become a Pastor for the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, having graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, in 1949. While serving a Congregation in Glen Ullin, ND, he dated his future wife, Eunice Harthun. They married June 17, 1951. Carl and Eunice served Congregations in North Dakota and Wisconsin before coming to Bellingham, WA, where they raised their family and served Trinity Lutheran Church for 28 years, from 1959-1987. He continued in Pastoral work, including work at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, WA. More currently he was Pastor Emeritus at Trinity in Bellingham.

Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Bauman and twin brother, Rev. Ralph Fischer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eunice; sister Ruth Richert; son Jonathan (Laurie) Fischer, and daughter Martha (Tom) Bajema. Other surviving family include his beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, October 13. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas St., at 11:00 a.m. Reception following at the Church.
