Analee Marie Brethour, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2012. She was born Dec. 2, 1922 in Seattle, WA to Vernon and Velma (Garland) Kuney. She graduated from Lowell grade school, Bellingham High School in 1940 and business school in Seattle. She served in the US Navy WAVES during WWII, and married D.J. Brethour in 1946 at her parents’ home in Bellingham. While employed at the Leopold Hotel as secretary to the manager, she was a member of the National Secretaries Association, Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of the Convention-Tourist Committee. She also served as executive secretary to the National Foundation-March of Dimes and was Chapter Chairman and Treasurer. Analee was a charter member of the duplicate bridge club in Bellingham and served as its secretary and unit president. She and her husband owned and operated Piston Service of Bellingham where her husband began working at the age of 18. Analee enjoyed needlepoint work, music, bridge, bowling, attending stage plays in Seattle and Vancouver and many years traveling in their 5th wheel. The family gatherings for holidays and birthdays were very important to her. She maintained a close relationship with her school friends as a member of the “Golden Girls” which still meet for lunches and dinners together. She was member of St. James Presbyterian Church where she was baptized and was a 50 year member of Eastern Star.
Analee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband D.J., her brother Arthur Kuney and her niece Stephanie Kuney Brown. She is survived by her son, John Gregory (wife Ursula) Brethour and daughter, Leanne (husband Ron) Secor, grandchildren Pam (husband Rob) Potter, children Maddie and Max, Robert (wife Jody) Nesbitt, children Kyle, Levi and Brooke, Chris Brethour, Tanya (husband Chris) Lattner and their son Zachary, and nephews Mike Gillis and Clyde and Jay Stanton. Visitation will be held at the Westford Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 25th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at St. James Presbyterian Church, 910 14th Street in Bellingham at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Private family committal will follow at Greenacres Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Washington
