Ann M. Ware, age 88 of Bellingham, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011. She was born February 28, 1923 in Salem, OR to Herman E. and Margaret Wood. As a natural teacher, Ann worked to encourage and empower those around her. She was a remarkable spirit. Her interests in the arts included writing poetry, playing piano and violin and making jewelry. Ann was an active volunteer and promoter of worthy causes such as the Democratic Party, the Whatcom Museum and the Lummi Weavers. She touched many people throughout her life’s journey. She was preceded in death by her companion Morrie Alexander, husband Joel B. Ware, Jr., and sister Rebecca Beals. She is survived by sons Joel Ware, IV (wife Kayla M.) of Seattle, Stephen Ware (wife Maureen) of Bellingham, and David Alexander (wife Anna) and their children Nataly and Noe Guevara of Bellingham, brothers David E. Wood (wife Leone) of Coronado, CA, and Howard Wood of Amity, OR, and many loving relatives and close friends including Joan Biggs of Portland, OR, Phyllis Redday-Roberts of Sisseton, SD and Carol Wood of Amity, OR. A Funeral Service will be held at Wex’liem Lummi Community Building on Sunday, November 6th at 10 AM.
