Tony Bergen, age 89, passed away in Bellingham on Thursday, April 29, 2021. He was born January 29, 1932 in Bellingham, WA to Nicholas and Faye (Tosutovich) Bergen. Tony graduated from Bellingham High School in 1949 and went on to serve in the US Navy for 4 years during the Korean War. Tony worked as a commercial fisherman, as a meat cutter at Thriftway, and retired after 40 years as the West Coast Divisional Sales Manager for Samson Ocean Systems. Tony loved gardening and grew wonderful flowers and vegetables. He was a hard worker and he took pride in everything he did and if it was worth doing it was worth doing right. Tony was a true people person who absolutely loved spending time with others. His family will miss his sense of humor and his companionship. He is survived by his loving companion Carolyn “Carol” Smith, his sons Michael A. (wife Kelli) Bergen and Matthew I. Bergen, sister Mary Clemens, special nephew Tom Tuttle, sister Gloria (husband Dick) Williams, Carol’s children Debbie (Dave) Recchia, Roger Smith (Patty) and Michael (Leslie) Smith, Carol’s grandchildren Justin, Lindsey, Jordan, Alex, Madeline, Weston and Ryan, Carol’s great-grandsons Carson and Christian, as well as many loving friends, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Friday, May 7th from 2-4 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, May 10th at 11 AM.
