Ardelle (Atwood) Lind passed away in the presence of her loved ones on September 17, 2014. She was born April 11, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, WA to parents Gile and Audrey Atwood. She attended schools in Menahga, MN, Clear Lake, WA and ultimately graduated from Bellingham High in 1949. She married her husband Harry A. Lind on September 20, 1953 in Bellingham. Ardelle was a multi-talented woman and she was more than happy to share her talents with others. She loved nothing more than cooking. She worked in the food service industry all of her life, spending many years at the Downtowner, Bunk's Drive-In, and Lee's Drive-In, all in Bellingham. She was known among her friends and family for her amazing potato salad and for the Scandinavian Christmas cookies she crafted. She was also an accomplished knitter and made sweaters, afghans, socks, and many beautiful Christmas stockings that those closest to her will treasure forever. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Survivors include her daughter, Marian Rawls; Grandchildren Korenna, Kody, and Nick; Brother Warren Atwood of Rupert, ID; Sisters Alta (Earl) Moffit of Boise, ID and Irene Patterson of Rupert, ID. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as the many wonderful friends that she would so lovingly consider to be her own children. Ardelle was lucky to have many “coffee” friends that would come to spend time by her side when she was no longer able to go out, as well as Taylor Rawls and his family who constantly showed their love with surprise visits (and scratch tickets) that she looked forward to. The family would like to especially thank Ardelle’s dear cousin Shirley Hauenstein for the limitless love, company and support that she always gave to her. The family extends further thanks to the many nurses and caregivers from Signature Home Health, Circle of Life, and Hospice that so lovingly helped with Ardelle’s care and comfort. A Celebration of Ardelle’s life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, October 4th at American Legion Post #7, 1688 W. Bakerview Rd. in Bellingham. A reception will follow.
