Royal Family Member of God, and Citizen of Heaven
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die…” Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Arliss, at age 90, experienced the longing of her heart and went to her eternal home on Saturday March 4, 2023.
She was born October 19, 1932 in Detroit Lakes, MN to parents Richard and Bernice Fitch during the Great Depression. A woman of no particular distinction, the three great loves of her life were Heaven, Husband, and Home. She always gave an explicit testimony of the faith that motivated her by setting the example. Leaving an enduring Godly legacy, her faith was an extraordinary example of the kind of faith Jesus blesses. She was sincere, earnestly worshipful, childlike in her trust of the Lord, and utterly dependent on Him. A longtime member of Immanuel Bible Church, a prayer warrior, and Bible Study leader, she was always praying for the people she met, and loved to talk about her Savior.
She met and married Jack Strandberg in 1949. Together they made her home the central gathering place for family and friends in which many holidays, birthdays, countless barbeques, and sleepovers were celebrated. Her life demonstrated such calm, sacrifice and humility. She was an incredibly special woman that we were supremely blessed and honored to know and love. She will always hold a sacred place of joy in our hearts because her life has irrevocably changed ours forever. Not one of us know when that ordained “time to die” may be, so we must seek daily to “walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” Colossians 4:5
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Strandberg; sisters Betty Grothe, Joyce Lucht, and daughter Cindi Eggert. She is survived by her sister, Carol Lucht; 4 children, Sue (Kenn, deceased) Kooyers, Jaci (Don) Warner, John (Anny) Strandberg, and Gene (Karlene) Strandberg; her grandchildren, Tim Kooyers, Brandon Kooyers, Matthew Warner, Melissa Warner, Kari Gipson, Stephanie Gonzalas, Sarah Strandberg, and Tyler Strandberg, along with six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her very special friends that God placed in her life, Dave (deceased) and Sharon Wright, Robin and Carol Whipple, and John (deceased) and Karen Nieuendorp Hawkins.
Arliss will be laid to rest at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham, WA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 21st at 2:00pm at Immanuel Bible Church, 2000 W. North St. Bellingham, WA.
