Pete Patenaude, age 82, passed away suddenly at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham on April 5, 2012. He was born July 20, 1929 in St. Boniface, Manitoba to Joseph and Eva Patenaude. Pete grew up in Manitoba and moved to Seattle in 1956. He met Joan Zerr in 1959 and they married in 1961 in Surrey, B.C. They moved to Bellingham in 1976 and together owned and operated the Lions Inn Motel on Elm Street for over 15 years. Pete was outgoing, loved meeting new people, and always had a story to tell. He enjoyed attending Seahawks games, watching hockey, fixing things, driving around town, and “shooting the breeze” with his morning coffee buddies at McDonalds. Pete was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Joan; daughters Sharon Patenaude of Chicago, IL and Karen (husband Judd) Brown and their son Grayson of Seattle; sisters Yvonne (husband Steve) Biro and Lorraine Terry of Surrey, BC; and many loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Thursday, April 12 from 3-5 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Friday, April 13 at 11 am, followed by a reception.
