Barbara Imus, age 87, passed away peacefully at home in Bellingham, WA on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. She was born September 1, 1928 in Bellingham to Watson and Alma Quinby. Barbara graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946 and married her high school sweetheart, Ken Imus, in 1948.
Following Ken’s passion for the auto business they moved to California and later Texas. In 1964 they returned to California to establish a new Ford dealership. In the 1980’s she opened Barbara’s Antiques. They retired home to Bellingham in 1997. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge and was an active volunteer with The Children’s Aid Society. Barbara’s favorite time of the year was Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her son Tim Imus and her brother Bob Quinby. Barbara is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ken Imus, son Brad (Jean) Imus, daughter-in-law Teresa Dalton, grandchildren Derek Imus, Brent Imus, Matt Imus, Kate Imus (Kevin Misiuda), Ashley (Colton) Paige and Tessa Dalton, and great-grandchildren James and Chloe.
Memorials in Barbara’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Washington, 1308 Meador Ave., Bellingham, WA 98229.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Westford Funeral Home in Bellingham, WA on Wednesday, December 16th at 11 AM. Reception following.
