Beryl Bowers, age 87 of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2014. She was born in Eau Claire, WI on August 23, 1926 to Theodore and Blanche Madsen. She moved to Washington State in the 1930’s and spent most of her childhood in Ferndale. In 1946 she married the love of her life, Herman. Beryl enjoyed working in her yard and keeping a beautiful garden, almost like a park. Up until the end she avidly enjoyed bowling and participated in two leagues until she passed away. Her great-grandkids provided joy for her later in life as she enjoyed watching them play sports, even if it meant sometimes cheering for the wrong team. She loved playing bingo on Tuesday nights, which was her number one priority no matter what else came up. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman and sister-in-law, Edith Turnbull. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Gwinner, two sons, Doug and Robert Bowers, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother, Everett (Shirley) Madsen, brother-in-law, Richard Bowers, sister-in-law, Maureen Bowers, numerous nieces and nephews and many loving family members and friends. A memorial service was held at Westford Funeral Home on Saturday April 12. Memorials in memory of Beryl may be made to Whatcom Hospice.
