Betsy “Mimi” Ahlstedt of Lynden, WA passed away in peace and comfort in the early morning hours of April 24, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham. Betsy married Harold “Dude” Ahlstedt in Bellingham in June of 1946. Together they had two children, Rick and Kathy, who they lovingly raised in Bellingham.
Betsy loved traveling, boating, golfing and playing cards with Dude and their many friends. Over the years, Betsy especially loved her family dogs. For many years, she and Dude enjoyed their home on Chuckanut Drive before moving to Lynden in 2000.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband Harold, grandchildren Wendy and Artie and brothers Jim and Hack. She is survived by her son Rick (wife Katy) Ahlstedt, daughter Kathy (husband Tim) Harvey, grandchildren Lisa, Jeff, Tracy, Sean, Nick, and John; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, sister Martha and many loving relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank all of the good people at Meadow Greens who knew and cared for Mimi over the last five years, the nurses and staff at Lynden Christian Health Care Center, and the folks at St. Joseph’s who took care of her in her final hours.
A graveside service will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park at 12 Noon on Wednesday, April 29th, followed by a memorial service with reception at 1 PM at Westford Funeral Home in Bellingham.
Memorials may be made to the Whatcom Humane Society, P.A.W.S, or Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
