Betty is survived by her husband James Cates; son Jay and his wife Sandy Cates; grandson Michael Cates; sister Polly Mills; 3 brothers, J.B., Tom, and Wayne Joyce; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services and burial will be held in Burlington, NC.
