Our beautiful and amazingly strong mom, Betty Joy McParlin, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, on Friday, December 30, 2022.
Betty was born in Belmont Shore, CA on May 31, 1936 to Myrza (Barlow) and Lucien F. Western.
Mom loved dancing, casinos, and going out to eat. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. They brought her such joy.
She was so kind and considerate and always put everybody else’s wants and needs before hers. That is the way she always wanted it. She loved to make people happy. She always tried to be positive and cheerful, despite her illness, and fought tremendously hard.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband John McParlin and her son David Verhulst. Betty is survived by her six children, Debra Soske, Terri (Greg) Gault, Sandra (Brian) Marshall, Daniel (Stephanie) Cullins, Pixie (Jeff) Jenkins, and Tanya (Carl) Hunter, her sister Beverly Stover, 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Betty is also survived by her longtime friends, Rosalie, Linda, and Dan. Mom treasured their friendship.
Thank you all for being such wonderful friends to our mom. She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed. Goodnight sweetheart, goodnight.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 7 at Saxon Cemetery in Acme, WA.
