Beverly Alice (Whited) Kuljis

Beverly “Body” Kuljis, age 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her three daughters, on March 31, 2017 in Bellingham. She was born January 22, 1928 in Lynden, WA, to Ethel Evertz Whited and Harold Whited. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1945. She married Martin Kuljis on July 12, 1947 and they were happily married for 68 years until his death in February 2016. “Body” was a master seamstress and created school clothes, prom and wedding dresses, and handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She was a founding member of the St. Joe’s Sarah Debra Fundraising Ball and a gift shop volunteer. Meatloaf and homemade cookies were welcome comfort food for anyone going through a rough time. She was a mom and grandma to everyone. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Martin, her mother Ethel Ellis and step-father McKinley Ellis, father Harold Whited, sister Joyce Whited Eggleston, and many relatives. She is survived by her daughters Kelli Linville (Will Roehl), Kerri Kuljis (Bill Lynch) and Kim Newell (Dan), grandchildren Sean (Holly) Linville, Christopher Linville (girlfriend Lindsay McDonald), Skye Petras (Ben), Celeste Bailey, Brandon Newell (Rachel), Adrian Newell (Nickole), Anthony Newell and Jesse Newell, 11 great-grandchildren Hailey, Malia, Logan, Gavin, Savannah, Easton, Fisher, Faith, Kaylee, Zander and Ashden, and many loving relatives and friends. She will be a tough act to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whatcom Humane Society, 2172 Division St., Bellingham, WA, 98226; Lydia Place, 1911 C. St., Bellingham, WA, 98225, or in support of her great-granddaughter Faith, to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 520 Pike St. #1075, Seattle, WA 98101. We would like to thank the staffs at Spring Creek, St. Joe’s Hospital and Mt. Baker Care Center. Final resting place will be next to her husband Martin at Bayview Cemetery.
