Bob Berwick

January 21, 1944 — January 5, 2011

1/21/1944 – 1/5/2011
Bob Berwick, age 66 of Bellingham, passed away suddenly & unexpectedly in his home on January 5, 2011.  He was born January 21, 1944 in Bellingham to Harvey & Georgie (Whitsell) Berwick.  Bob graduated form Bellingham High School in 1962 and was an outstanding athlete.  He was a multi-year letterman for the “Red Raiders” in basketball & baseball, which he continued to play during community college.  He was an excellent pitcher who was known for his fastball.  He played for the Bellingham “Bells” in 1963 and was even scouted by the Yankees.
Bob served 3 years in the U.S. Army & was stationed in Germany for the majority of his service.  He returned to Germany shortly after his discharge and ended up living and working, as a limo driver, there for 10 years.  Bob worked briefly at G.P. and eventually started working as a taxicab driver until his passing.  For over 20 years Bevis developed a strong clientele base with WWU students, a variety of local business, & the Bellingham Fire Dept. to mention just a few.  He was congenial, helpful, respectful, and dependable – if he said he’d be there at a certain time he was there.  Bob had a real work ethic, he was professional & businesslike, but also had a real soft spot for people in need.  Bob loved all sports & was looking forward to steelhead fishing again.  He went to several Seahawks games over the years, but, as a lot of people know, he had a special place in his heart for the Green Bay Packers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Harvey “Junior.” Bob is survived by his sister Vickie (Roy) Jones; brother Randy Berwick; sister-in-law Marijo Berwick; nieces and nephews Joel (Cal) Berwick, Brandi (Bronson) Nyhus,  Chris Jones, Amy Jones; and many loving family and friends.
Memorials may be made to Boys & Girls Club; 1715 Kentucky St., Bellingham, WA 98229 or the Assistance Dogs of the West; PO Box 31207, Santa Fe, NM 87594. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at Westford’s Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway, on Tuesday, January 11 at 2 PM, followed by a reception.
