Brittany Elizabeth Bobbink passed away on April 19, 2024, at the age of 30 following a two-week battle with stage four breast cancer.
Born to Michael and Carol Bobbink in Bellingham, Washington, on November 3, 1993, Brittany joined her older sister, Maia, and brother, Matthew. She began her education at Samish School, then continued on to Assumption Catholic School, which she attended through eighth grade. She loved her time at Assumption with her small class, and Assumption was also where she was baptized and did her First Communion.
After Assumption, Brittany went on to Sehome High School, where she graduated from in 2012. Then, after being accepted to every college she applied to, Brittany matriculated to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. She majored in animal science, the perfect choice for Brittany given her lifelong love of animals. While at Cal Poly she raised a foal, Kent, whom she later rescued as a two-year-old after he was sold to the track. Ultimately, Brittany pursued human fertility and worked at Poma Fertility in Kirkland, where she began in andrology before becoming an embryologist. From her undergraduate years to her professional life, Brittany demonstrated her toughness and resilience with some of the challenging situations she navigated.
An avid animal lover who had many bunnies, guinea pigs, cats, and dogs over the years, Brittany rode dressage from the age of 12 until her death. Following her first horse, Ivy, she showed her beloved horse Fantasma for the past decade, through to the fourth level, and planned to begin showing her new horse Patser. Brittany had two cats, Wren and Koi, and was also very active in the corgi community with her corgis Nootka Rose and Kalu William IV, both of whom are named after her father’s boats that she treasured spending time on since she was a baby. All of Brittany’s animals will continue to be loved and cared for by her family and close friends.
When she wasn’t spending time with her horses, Brittany developed her small business making personalized pet bandanas and other items. She loved skiing, especially at Whistler/Blackcomb; boating in the San Juans, Gulf Islands, and Desolation Sound; spending time with her family in Mazatlan, Mexico; and visiting Disneyland. Brittany cherished sharing her passion with others, particularly her family and friends. She always had a smile on her face and witty remark at the ready, which we’ll miss immensely.
Brittany is survived by her mother, Carol; older siblings Maia (Colby) Langenberg, Matthew Bobbink, Kia Davis; nephew Eli Langenberg; many aunts, uncles, friends; and beloved pets. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael, who passed away in September 2023.
