Brother and sister Robert “Bob” and Virginia “Ginny” Figenbaum passed away just three days apart from Alzheimer’s disease at Silverado Memory Care Center.
Bob was born on September 15, 1946. He went to Heaven on January 19, 2022. Virginia “Ginny” was born on November 14, 1947. She went to Heaven on January 22, 2022. They were preceded in death by their parents, Mervin Figenbaum and Jessie Slotemaker Figenbaum and their brother-in-law Paulino Estrada. They are survived by their sister Georgiann Figenbaum Lakey, nephews Jon, Markus and Jamison, and nieces Diann and Emma.
Bob graduated from Bellingham High School and attended Bellingham Technical College. He was a custodian at the Bellingham Post Office for over 30 years. Bob was an excellent photographer and sold some photos at the Bellingham Senior Center. He loved hiking and travelling and was a member of the Mt. Baker Hiking Club, and Immanuel Bible Church where he attended Bible study. After his father Mervin passed, Bob was a great help to his mother and visited her daily to check on her.
Ginny graduated as an honors student from Bellingham High School, University of Washington, and later Western Washington University. She was a computer programmer in Beaverton, Oregon before retiring to Bellingham to be closer to her family. Ginny enjoyed travelling, music, speed walking, Bible study with her friends, and was a member of Hope in Christ Church.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob and Ginny’s wonderful lives will be held at Hope in Christ Church, 710 E. Sunset Dr. in Bellingham on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 10:30am. Pastor Scott Roberts from Hope in Christ Church and Pastor Michael Martin from Immanuel Bible Church will be co-officiating the service. Masks will be required. You may share memories at
