Charles “Chuck” Lemont Aurand passed away August 29, 2011, in Bellingham, WA, after a brief illness. He was 67. Chuck was born on October 22, 1943, in Shiloh Valley, Illinois, to Shirlee and Lee Aurand. He moved as a junior in high school with his family to western Washington, and attended Washington State University. Chuck started his career with Boeing then became a stellar salesman for 30 years. He was recognized by Ford Motor Company as one of the top 100 salesmen in the United States on multiple occasions throughout his career. Chuck and wife Lynn moved from Marysville to Camano Island in 1991 and enjoyed the community and quiet island life for many years. Chuck was a very active member of Camaloch Golf Course, playing nearly every day for years, and traveling with his friends from Camaloch to play other courses in the region, as well as traveling to “Camaloch South” in Arizona for several winters. Chuck was also a hunter and a talented trainer of retrievers and other hunting dogs.
Chuck’s famous sense of humor helped get him through his final year, when a series of illnesses had him in and out of the hospital, and his determination helped him to stay in his own home right up until the final illness. Chuck is preceded in death by his wife Lynn and son Matthew. He is survived by his son Erick and a number of extended family members. Memorials in Chuck’s name may be made to the Northwest Organization for Animal Help (N.O.A.H.) Animal Adoption Center, P.O. Box 1603, Stanwood, WA 98292.
