Dale Alden Schermerhorn

Dale Alden Schermerhorn, of Bellingham, WA, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Dale was 51, born in Bellingham on February 13, 1968 to Erlona “Loni” (Radder) and William K Schermerhorn, SR. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1986 and proudly served in the US Marine Corps for 6 years of active duty. He loved his heavenly father, his family, and the US Marines. Dale was an active member of Fountain Community Church where he searched out opportunities to serve both within the church as well as in the community. He put in countless nights at the Cold Weather Shelter for several years and felt blessed to be able to get to know the women that were temporarily housed at the church. Dale was preceded in death by his father William and his brother Jim. He is survived by his wife Carla, whom he married March 25th, 2000; four children, Ashley Peters, Brittany Betancourt (Moises), Nathan Winchester, and Elizabeth Schermerhorn; his mother Loni Schermerhorn and brother Keith Schermerhorn; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Dale’s life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August, 10, 2019 at Fountain Community Church, 2100 Broadway in Bellingham. Memorials may be made to the Light House Mission.
