Daniel Austin Booth died on May 11, 2023 shortly after his 40th birthday in Bellingham, Washington. Daniel was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on April 26, 1983 to parents Patricia Ann Jacobson and Constant William Booth IV, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his brothers Tom Booth and Bill Booth (Meg), and sisters Amy Webster (Randy), Marcie Miles (Art), and Catherine VanMiert (Todd). He was the fond uncle of nephews Tommy, Parker, Jake, and Elliott, and nieces Hadley and Emily.
Daniel grew up with his loving family on Lake Orion in Michigan, learning to play in the woods, navigate the town, and — most importantly — sail. The Booth family is composed of a lineage of sailors and mariners, with Daniel being one of the most accomplished. His experiences on the water began before he could walk, as his father and brothers brought him along on evening buoy racing on Lake Orion. That led to his first sailboat at age 6, one which he learned to sail confidently in the coming years along with his older brother Bill. These experiences fueled Daniel's love for the sea, adventure, and competition. When the Booth Family moved to Anacortes, Washington in 1995, he was able to continue developing as a sailor through regular racing and cruising with his father and brother on the family boat. Daniel's confidence and experience grew, enabling him to single-handedly sail around the San Juan Islands and up into the inland waters of Canada. His deep experience through sailing and commercial fishing culminated in Daniel achieving a 100-ton captain's license and working towards starting a chartering business in the US Virgin Islands. When not on the water, Daniel loved spending his winters snowboarding at Mt. Baker and otherwise enjoying all the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. His presence on both sea and land will be greatly missed.
The family is planning a small, private memorial to come. We invite you to celebrate Daniel’s life in every amazing Pacific Northwest sunset. He loved engaging the next generation of sailors and the family welcomes donations in Dan’s honor at the Bellingham Community Boating Center
