Dan Medrano was called home to his Lord and Savior on Thanksgiving morning, November 22, 2018. Dan was critically injured by a vehicle while crossing a street in Bellingham on Thursday, November 8th, and spent his last two weeks at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Dan was 62 years old, born December 29, 1955 in San Jose, CA, to Samuel and Monica Medrano. After his death, Dan’s family found a document that asked the question “How do you want to be remembered?” He wrote simply “that I loved Jesus.” Danny lived in San Jose with his wife Julie until 1984, when they moved the family to Eastern Washington to serve at the Mabton Boys Ranch, and then in 1987 to the Flying H Youth Ranch in the Nile Valley, near Yakima, where Dan served as a youth counselor. Some of his favorite memories of Eastern Washington were hiking, camping and hunting in the mountains with family and friends. After his time at the ranch, Dan enjoyed living in different parts of the West, including Wyoming and Vantage, WA. Dan moved to Bellingham in 2011 to be closer to his kids and over the last seven years was able to attend many holiday and family gatherings. Dan loved music and sports, rarely missing a Mariners, Seahawks or Huskies game on TV. Despite struggling with MS for 30 years, Dan loved being with people and getting out as much as possible to the YMCA, senior center, library, the movies, farmers market and going out to eat. He greatly enjoyed political banter with friends and strangers alike. Dan was preceded in death by his infant son Jordan, his father Sam, and his brother David. He is survived by four children, Danielle (Steve) Kott of New Hampshire, Rianna (Rob) Westford of Bellingham, Jesse Medrano of Bellingham and Laura (Kevin) Beausoleil of Mount Vernon, six grandchildren, Kailyn, Louisa, Julia, Judah and Aleah Kott and Graham Beausoleil, former wife Julie, mother Monica, siblings Evelyn, Sam (Mary), Gloria (Ray) and Lisa (Ken), and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 2 Timothy 4:7-8a “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award me on that day...” The family invites you to join them for a visitation on Friday, Nov. 30th from 4-6 pm and a Celebration of Life Service with reception following on Saturday, Dec. 1st at 12 noon. All services will be held at Westford Funeral Home, 1301 Broadway St. in Bellingham. Please share memories of Dan at
