Daniel Silva was born in Pawtucket, RI on December 2, 1932 to Manuel and Rose (Vieira) Silva. He grew up in Wakefield, RI where he worked as a Point Judith fisherman, and was referred to as “Captain Dan.” He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy “Nina” Whitney in Wakefield, RI and they were blessed with four children. After moving across country to Bellingham, WA in 1967 he and Nina started a commercial fishing business where they participated in Dungeness crab fishing, gillnetting and longlining on their F/V Pegasus. Dan was a hard worker and was dedicated to his family. He is dearly loved and will be forever missed. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rosemarie and his loving wife Nina, who passed on January 29, 2017. He is survived by his four children, Cindy Silva, Mark (Jana) Silva, Sandy Fisk and Jody (Dave) Spore, five grandchildren, Ashley, Cassie, Paige, Lacie and Allie, and two great-grandchildren Thoren and Skyla. Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice House. A graveside service will be held at Bayview Cemetery on Friday, August 24th at 11 AM. You may share memories with the family at
