David Edward Grumney died with joy in his heart on December 4th, 2014 with his wife of 53 years, Carole, at his side.
He was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and raised his family in Westake Village, California. He owned his own Executive Search company for the last twenty years of his career which gave him great pleasure and satisfaction. At retirement, he and his wife moved to Orcas Island and he reveled in chopping wood, exploring nature and keeping connected to all of his family and friends. He spent his last ten years in Bellingham where he became a part of an amazing community of which Christ was the center and Assumption Catholic Church and School were the foundation. After he was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago, his joy, good humor and, most importantly, his faith grew and he shared each of these with everyone he met.
He will be missed by his wife, Carole, children Laura (Bob) Almada, Daniel (Tina) Grumney and Judy (Jeff) Ziels, and six loved grandchildren, Sarah, RJ, Sean, Colin, Henry and Louli and all the friends he made along the way.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Assumption at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 10th. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Assumption Catholic School Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
