Gone Fishing
Delbert L. Grimes, age 81 of Deming, passed away January 10, 2011 at Hospice House in Bellingham. He was born August 12, 1929 in Spokane, WA to Jessie & Elsie (Phillips) Grimes and was raised in Bonners Ferry, ID. Del served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Angela (Zender) Linderman on August 24, 1972. Del worked for 25 years at Intalco, retiring in 1992. Del enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, and fishing whenever he could. He was a good natured and always had a story to tell. His family was most important to him, and he loved them dearly (including his dog Mollie).
Del was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Angela, children Randy Grimes, Gary (Suzanne) Grimes, Harry (Karen) Grimes, Jesse Grimes, Joe (Gloria) Linderman, Mary Ann (Larry) Brown, Rosanne Linderman (Bryan), Guy Linderman (Janet), 31 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and sisters Doreen Thomas and Nancy Galbraith.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, 6210 Mt. Baker Hwy, Deming, WA, or to Whatcom Hospice House, 800 E. Chestnut Suite 1-A, Bellingham, WA 98225. Vigil at St. Peter Catholic Church in Deming on Friday, January 14 at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter on Saturday, January 15 at 10 AM, followed by burial with full military honors at St. Peter Cemetery. A reception will follow back at the church. Fr. Emilio Gonzales will be officiating.
