Diana R. Jonas

Born in Ketchikan, Alaska on June 22, 1957 to Donald and Irene (Genoway) Bell, Diana passed away peacefully in Bellingham, WA on February 2, 2024 with her daughter, Rachael, by her side. She was 66 years old.
Diana was the only sister of three brothers. She grew up in Ketchikan and moved to Bellingham later in life, but she always considered herself a true Alaskan Woman. She graduated high school at Kayhi High in Ketchikan and then went on to finish nursing school. Diana was a great nurse and loved caring for other people. She continued her career as a nurse, known by friends as “Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy”.
Once in Bellingham, she met the love of her life, Mike. Together they had a blended family with four children. They had many adventures together. Diana loved traveling, camping, fishing, playing darts, and riding on the back of their Harley Davidson. Diana loved to make fresh pies for her friends, family, sometimes doctors, and even strangers. She dreamed of selling her pies and wanted to call her business “Di’s Pies”.
Diana later took up crocheting, tai chi, and had a green thumb. Her house plants and garden were always looking extraordinary and healthy. Diana also loved walks to her beach with her beloved companion, Gizmo, who preceded her in death. She is now thrilled to be reunited with him. Diana loved spending time with family and friends, especially at Christmas time.
Diana is survived by her husband, Mike Jonas; children, Rachael Rasmussen, Bonnie Ritchie, and Braden Jonas; grandchildren, Jayden Rasmussen, Ezakyah Clemons, Kaniyah Bagby, Hevan Jonas, Bella, Ryder and Bo Ritchie, and Bronson and Charlotte Jonas; great-grandchild, Ja’lani Rasmussen; brothers, Gary and Jim Bell; and many close friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 16th at 2:00pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale, WA. A reception will follow at the family home.
