Donald H. House, Sr.

Don House, age 89, passed away peacefully at home in Bellingham on December 15, 2017. He was born August 8, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN, to Theodore and Elsie (Roelke) House. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1946-47. He married Mary Lee Sievers on April 4, 1953 in Bellingham. As an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellingham, Don and Mary Lee taught Sunday School and served on the church council. As a longtime member of the Bellingham Central Lions Club, he served in leadership positions and was active volunteer. Don was a career Operations Manager at WWU. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, cruises, and working on computers. He was preceded in death by wife Mary Lee House, daughter Kathryn Brandt and her husband Frank, grandson Jeffrey Fox, and brothers Jerry and Larry House. Don is survived by his daughters Valerie Ann Gideon and Laurie House, son Don House, Jr., grandchildren Jamison (wife Caitlin) Gideon, Cassandra House-Hanowell (husband Chris) and their two children Caius and Daenaria, Jason (wife Shelly) Fox and their daughters Christan and Destinee, and many loving relatives and friends. Memorials in Don’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Washington, 1301 Fraser St. Suite A1, Bellingham, WA 98229.
