Donald Olney

Don Olney, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. He was born March 12, 1934 in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, Canada to Richard and Wilhelmina Olney. Don grew up in Bellingham and attended Assumption and Bellingham High School. He married Elaine Johnstone in 1955 in Bellingham, WA. Don served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a machine tender at GP for 42 years. Don was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. Don was preceded in death by his son Richard “Van” in 2009, father Richard, mother Billie and step-father Francis Sybrant. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine, daughter Cindy (Gary) Witman, sons Mike Olney (Debbie Callahan) and Troy (Tracy) Olney, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brother Kenny (Bev), sister Jeannie, step-brother George (Norma) and many loving relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lynden on Wednesday, August 7th at 2 PM. A reception will follow at the church.
