Donna June Valdason was born on December 28, 1929 in Blaine, Washington to Adolph and Katherine Valdason, and passed away on June 8, 2014 in Lynden, Washington. She went to school in Blaine and Lynden, graduating from Lynden High School. She also attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver. She met her future husband, Hal Arnason Jr, at the Birch Bay Roller Rink and they were married on Valentine’s Day in 1949. They were blessed to enjoy 60 years of marriage. They moved to Seattle while Hal finished college at the University of Washington and then returned to Bellingham for the remainder of their lives. Donna and Hal raised five children in Bellingham; Hal (Darla), Kim (Margo), Shelli Lentz (Roy), Tod (Virginia) and Kathi Berry (Michael). She leaves 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sister Joene Thompson and husband Mark who live in Belfair, WA. Donna was devoted to her family and was present at most, if not all, of the school activities and sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid University of Washington supporter and loved to go with Hal Jr to Seattle and across the country to attend the football games of her beloved Huskies. Donna was a long time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.In lieu of flowers donations to St. Paul’s Church, the Salvation Army or the Light House Mission would be gratefully accepted. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Monday, June 16th from 4-6 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, June 17th at 11 AM. Reception following. The Rev. Charles W. Whitmore will be officiating.
