Dorothy Jolley, age 81 of Bellingham passed away on October 23, 2014. She was born in Mount Vernon, WA on January 26, 1933 to Lee and Clara (Dreier) Hughes. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1954. Dorothy met her husband Bill in Bellingham, they married in 1956. Bill and Dorothy raised their family of 4 children in Bellingham. Dorothy worked as a R.N. at St. Joseph’s Hospital, for local doctors, and as an industrial relief nurse. She was well known as “Nurse Jolley” at Lummi Indian Health Clinic where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of Church of the Assumption, Bellingham Golf and Country Club, Bellingham Yacht Club, and was a volunteer for and supporter of Camp Fire Samish. She was an avid gardener, cook, and enjoyed visiting and entertaining friends and family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Bill and brother Ken Hughes. She is survived by her daughters Amy Jolley of Seattle and Sarah (Michael) Dinger of Anchorage, AK, sons Will Jolley (John Clayton) of Los Angeles, CA and Brian (Keri) Jolley of Zurich, Switzerland, grandsons Aaron (Megan), Cody and Casey Dinger, granddaughters Orla and Ailish Jolley, great-grandson Lennon Dinger and loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also survived by her beloved cat Peppi. A Memorial Service will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11am followed by a reception. Committal will follow at Bayview City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Silverado, Visiting Angels, Home Attendant Care and Whatcom Hospice.
