Doug Lomas, age 98, passed away peacefully in Bellingham on February 24, 2019. He was born June 3, 1920 in Blackpool, England to George and Edith Lomas. Doug was raised in Manchester and was always a fan of the Manchester City football team. In earlier years he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his best friend Sid Thornton. Sid’s daughter Dorinda has remained close friends with the family and has been a big help to Coco. During WWII Doug served with the Royal Engineers. Following the war he moved to Canada where he worked in real estate and managed the Vancouver marina. After meeting Carol “Coco” Sylvester he moved to the U.S. and they were married. Doug and Coco have enjoyed living and traveling around Europe and the U.S. Doug enjoyed listening to music, especially Jimmy Lindquist’s jazz band. He was creative and was known for the authentic British pub he built in his basement. Doug is survived by his wife Coco Lomas, Coco’s son Rocky Sylvester (wife Jennifer) and his daughters Lorna and Simone, and many friends. A celebration of Doug’s life with live music will be held at the Squalicum Boathouse, 2600 S. Harbor Loop in Bellingham on Tuesday, March 5th at 5 PM. Reception following.
