Duane L. Alwood, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Palm Desert, CA. Duane was born March 10, 1946 in Spokane, WA.
He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1964 and attended WWU for two years as an art student. Duane served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. When he returned he made a career as an interior designer. He was very creative and artistic. Duane enjoyed spending time at his homes on Vashon Island and Palm Springs. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his hobbies of skiing and sailing.
Duane was preceded in death by his father Arthur, step-father Homer and mother Thelma. He is survived by his partner Jake Banks, brother Darrell Alwood (wife Sherrie) and many loving relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at 11 am on Tuesday, July 19th.
