Edward L. "Ed" Strachila

August 29, 1961 — February 18, 2014

Ed Strachila, age 52, died in an accident on the family farm in Clipper, WA on February 18, 2014. He was born August 29, 1961 in Bellingham to Adolph and Florence Strachila. Ed graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1979. After graduating from Peninsula College in Port Angeles he spent his life as a dairy farmer in the South Fork Valley. He was a dedicated and loving husband and a proud father. Ed was hardworking, generous, fun-loving and very community minded. He enjoyed his family, long weekends at “the farm” and the annual South Dakota hunting trip. Ed was preceded in death by parents, his uncle Stanley and his nephew Brian. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Heidi, children Sara, Dan (fiancée Kelsey), and Kyle, siblings Robert (Virginia), Helen (Butch), Bernie (Cathy), Maurice (Judy), David (Patsy), Maryanne, Steve (Lisa), Jim, and Liz (Rob) and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ed Strachila Memorial/Scholarship Fund at any WECU location. The family would like to thank the Acme Fire Department and the many friends that showed up to give support. A Vigil Service will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 7 PM on Sunday, February 23rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 12 Noon on Monday, February 24th. A reception will follow at the church. Fr. Emilio Gonzales will be officiating.
