Deena passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Arlington, WA, at the age of 89.  She was born February 19, 1921 in Nampa, Idaho to Clifford Carr and Alma Gronemeir.
She completed her education in Bellingham, graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in teaching, and spent nearly 30 years teaching the 3rd grade at Madison School in Mount Vernon, WA.
She married John R. King in 1945 and they made their home in Mount Vernon, WA.  John preceded her in death in 1981.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Clayton Carr and Keith Carr.
Deena is survived by her daughter Terry and husband Ron Whitaker of Arlington; son Brian and wife Rose (Spane) King of Moses Lake, WA; grandson Jeffrey and wife Jessica King of Moses Lake; granddaughter Melissa and husband John Hinson of Anthem, AZ; five great-grandchildren, Killian King, Kaiya King, Amelie Hinson, Isaac Hinson, and Eli Hinson.  She also leaves behind several long time friends from grade school days; Mary Ann Parker, Laura Bennett, Kathleen Nelson and Charlotte Day.
Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Graveside Service at Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:30 AM.  A reception will follow at Westford’s Broadway Hall (1300 Broadway).  Memorials are suggested to Friendship House in Mount Vernon, or Hospice.  Special Thank You to the staff at Warm Beach Care Center and Suzanne of Hospice.
