2/25/1914 – 12/10/2010
Eleni Tsoulouhas was welcomed into God’s Holy Kingdom on Friday, December 10, 2010. She was born on February 25, 1914 in Galtena, Greece to Ioannis and Vasiliki Koutsogiannis. On Nov. 8, 1940, Eleni met and married her husband Ioannis, and together had four children. After living through many years of turbulent times in Greece where they endured war, poverty, and famine, Eleni and her family moved to the United States in 1967. Arriving to an unknown land not knowing the language or the culture, Eleni did what she knew how to do…work. She worked in the kitchen at the Bellingham Hotel until retiring, at which point she and her husband helped in raising their grandchildren. Having done so, Eleni helped her children achieve the opportunities she had always dreamt of.
In the meantime, she taught her grandchildren about their Greek heritage, taught them the language, the culture and the traditions. She taught them that family, hard work, and a loving heart and faith in God is the key to a successful life.
Eleni was a strong woman. She was a woman of integrity and determination who above all had a deep devotion and love for her family. She loved to gather with friends and family where her laughter, song and dance filled the room. It is because of her appetite for life that we thank her and our Lord Jesus Christ for blessing us with all the years we had with her.
Eleni was preceded in death by her husband and daughter. She is remembered and always in the hearts of her children Nick Tsoulouhas (Kathy), Nikitas Tsoulouhas (Tasia), Vasiliki Siourounis (Vageli), 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and countless other family members and friends.
