Eugene C. Thramer

August 14, 1928 — January 24, 2019

Eugene “Gene” Thramer, age 90, passed away on January 24th, 2019 in Bellingham with his family by his side. Gene was born on August 14th, 1928 in Spalding, Nebraska to Leo and Magdaline (Glaser) Thramer. He relocated to Burlington, WA and graduated from Burlington Edison High School. He served in the United States Army and the Navy Reserves. He met Beverly Bryant at the Cook Road Grange and they married on February 14th, 1953. They enjoyed 53 wonderful years together. Gene graduated from Western Washington State College with a Masters Degree in Public School Administration and worked as the principal at Harmony Elementary School for 27 years before retiring. He touched the lives of many students and teachers and emceed many Christmas programs throughout the years. Gene and Beverly enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, spending time with grandchildren, square dancing and travelling the country researching their genealogy. Gene is survived by son Jerry (Kathy) Thramer, daughter Jodi Ericksen, grandchildren Ryan Thramer, Todd (Breanna) Thramer, Brittany (Karl) Micka-Foos, Mikaela Ericksen (Nicholas Anderson), and Jesse Ericksen, as well as four great-grandchildren, Kylie Thramer, Lenore Micka-Foos, Silas and Alijah Anderson, brother Joseph (Darlene) Thramer, sister Mary Anne Esch, close friend Val Lind, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by wife Beverly Thramer and son David Thramer. Memorials may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Bayview Cemetery on Friday, February 1st at 1 PM. You may share your memories at www.westfordfuneralhome.com .
