Fay Emily Fenske, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was 66, born February 22, 1952 in Salt Lake City, UT to Benjamin and Helen (Robertson) Burnett. Fay is survived by her daughters, Emily Fenske and Trista (Joel) Metz; sister Julia Durr, brother Martin Burnett and sister Benita Ballif, and many nieces and nephews.
Fay attended Pacific Lutheran University, graduating in 1974, where she was a member of the women’s crew team. Fay worked at the Bellingham Public Library for 30+ years and retired in February of 2018. During her time at the library Fay created many amazing costumes and puppets for the children’s library. Fay had her own sewing and alteration business, established in 1993, Fay’s Fancies. In her retirement Fay enjoyed volunteering for the Bellingham Theater Guild making costumes and props. Fay enjoyed traveling the world and visiting out of town family and friends. At home Fay loved spending time with family, sharing food and playing games. Fay loved gardening and took great pride in her garden. Celtic music was her favorite, especially when she could see it live. Most of all she loved and cared for all peoples around her and was always thinking of others first before herself.
In lieu of flowers, please bring a children’s book to the service which the family will donate in Fay’s memory. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Westford Funeral Home, followed by a reception across the street at Westford’s Broadway Hall.
