Frances was my 4th grade teacher at Sunnyland School in the late 1940's. But my most recent memories of her were the years she spent at Merrill Gardens. She always had a big hug and a kiss for me. When I would conduct chapel services there, she would be there with a big smile. I will miss her, as will many others who had the experience of her teaching years in Bellingham.

When I came to Bellingham in 1951, one of the first educators I met was Fran DeGeest, who was one of the finer Bellingham School teachers and a mentor to many. Later we golfed at BGCC and we always ejoyed her spritely mind.

I have known Frances all of my life and she was a dear family friend. We had so many great times at their cabin at Birch Bay and she played a big role in my life as a child and as an adult with my own family. She was a spirited and fiesty person who will be missed by many.
