Frederick August Fuhrmeister, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 14, 2013 at his home in Bellingham, Washington. He was born on May 24, 1934 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to Frederick A. Fuhrmeister, Sr. and Coralie (Beckett) Fuhrmeister. Frederick grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He graduated from Haverford High School in Havertown,
Pennsylvania in 1952. After high school, he attended Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business. He joined the Air Force in 1956 and served for 3 years. He served in Strategic Air Command while in Spain as a jet fighter pilot. He was honorably discharged in 1959, achieving the rank of Captain. He worked for AT&T and Bell Atlantic as a senior executive for 34 years. He retired in 1989 at 55 years of age. Frederick married Maria Carmen Sanchez in 1960 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were happily married for 52 years. Frederick was a member of Rotary International, Gideons International, Cornwall Church, and the National Rifle Association. Frederick was preceded in death by his father Frederick August Fuhrmeister, Sr., mother Coralie (Beckett) Fuhrmeister, and sister Janet (Fuhrmeister) Freeland. Frederick is survived by his beloved spouse Maria of Bellingham, Washington; his son Kurt A. Fuhrmeister and his wife Janet (Ackerman) Fuhrmeister; his daughter Lisa (Fuhrmeister) Adler and her husband Daniel Adler; his eight grandchildren; Christopher Adler, Kara Fuhrmeister, Maria (Adler) Cain, Morgan Fuhrmeister, Ryan Adler, Marc Fuhrmeister, Devon Fuhrmeister, and Ian Fuhrmeister; his niece Laura (Freeland) Gills and her husband James Gills; his nephews Donald Freeland and his wife Dawn Freeland and Jack Freeland and his wife Miranda Freeland.   A memorial service will be held at Westford Funeral Home at 3 PM on Monday, March 18th. Pastor Bob Marvel will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Gideons International, Whatcom Hospice Foundation, or American Cancer Society.
