Gary L. Jefferis, of Bellingham, WA, passed away with his wife by his side on Monday, March 13, 2017 in Bellingham. Gary was 73, born in Portland, OR, on February 11, 1944 to Harold and Evelyn (Zink) Jefferis. He earned a B.A. degree in Civil Engineering at Oregon Technical Institute, where he was Student Body President. Gary married Donna Williams on September 8, 1967 in Tigard, OR. He was head of Maintenance & Operations for the City of Bellingham. He then worked as a civil engineer for Wilder Construction, Eldred & Essex Construction, and Callen Construction. He then returned to the field of Maintenance & Operations for the Bellingham School District. After 7 years at the Bellingham School District he went to work for the Everett School District as the Director of Maintenance & Operations and retired from there after 18 years. Before Gary retired, he was considered an expert in school indoor air quality and received numerous awards from the EPA on his expertise. He was also an active participant in WAMOA (Washington Association of Maintenance & Operations Administrators) as their treasurer. Gary enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, golfing & spending time with his grandchildren. Gary also loved to travel, especially to Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Donna; daughter Angela (Ryan) King and their children, Taylor, Connor and Katelynn “KiKi”; son Christopher (Jennifer) Jefferis and their children, Zakary and Brooke; sister, Sharon (Larry) Wright; brother, Steven (Sandy) Jefferis and many loving relatives and friends. A memorial reception will be held 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 26th at Westford’s Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway St. in Bellingham. Memorials may be made to Everett Public Schools Foundation at P.O.
