Gary Thomas McCauley, life resident of Bellingham, WA, passed away July 31, 2021 in Bellingham. He was 73, born in Bellingham on July 11, 1948 to Hazel (Schuette) and George McCauley. In 1967 Gary married the love of his life Jennifer (Jenny) Fryxell and they were married for 54 years. A year later he began working for Georgia Pacific and retired after forty years of service.
Gary was a kid at heart. He collected old Lionel Trains, antique toys, pinball machines, and jukeboxes. At one point in time he had thirty three pinball machines in his basement. Gary had a great affinity for music. He was an avid classic car collector and loved to restore any old Ford. In the 1970’s he even gave stock car racing a shot. From 1971 to 1976 with his wife Jenny as his main sponsor Gary raced in over One hundred heat races at small town speedways throughout Washington and British Columbia. During the summer months Gary enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his riverside property on the Skagit River. He enjoyed traveling all over the Western States in particular his trip to the Grand Canyon. Gary will be remembered as a herculean figure with a heart of gold. He was a gentle giant to his five grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by brothers, Dennis and Larry McCauley and sister Karen Ashe. He is survived by his wife Jenny; sons, Patrick McCauley, Larry McCauley, Rodney (Georgina) McCauley and their children Celeste, Luke and Shaylee, and David (Tammy) McCauley and their children Madeline and Ren; brothers, Jim and Don McCauley; sister Linda McCauley and many nieces and nephews.
