Gary A. Nelson passed away August 22, 2016 from complications of Lymphoma and a stroke. He was a well respected man in our neighborhood, who always helped friends with chores around their home.
Gary also took care of shopping needs for an elderly woman who was unable to drive. He was a gentleman: kind and caring. Gary was passionate about animals, fed feral cats, and always donated to the Whatcom Humane Society and ASPCA. Gary was a professional truck driver and a proud member of the Teamsters Union! His family was his first love and he worked very hard for over fifty years. Gary studied French and German at the University of Washington from 1966-68. He was born in Sand Creek, Wisconsin on May 25, 1937, and moved to the northwest with his family in 1941.
Gary is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Lackey) of 42 years and son Roger E. Nelson. He is also survived by his brother Eugene of Yuba City, California. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Mary Katherine (8/81-6/01) and brothers Roger and Ronald Nelson.
He will always be missed and remembered.
