Gene Monks, age 89 of Bellingham, passed away December 7, 2010. He was born March 1, 1921 in Bunceton, Missouri to Roy and Edith (Mullet) Monks.  Gene Served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He was an avid motorcyclist and rode his bike throughout his entire life.  Gene worked as a barber and welder and in later years ran his own welding business.  He attended Christ the King Community Church in Bellingham with his family.  Gene was well loved and deeply devoted to his family and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by grandson Eli Lewis; and brothers Bill, Homer, David, Roy, Arthur, and Harold. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores Lavonne; daughter Yvonne Lewis; grandson Ryan (Megan) Lewis and their daughters Amanda, Raven and Alexia; grandsons Collin and Brandon Lewis; granddaughter Emily Lewis, Eli’s four children Makayla, Chance, Weston and Elijah; brothers George and Frank; sisters Betty Jo, Dorothy, Huldah and Thelma; good friends and riding buddies Del Stremler and Lynn Davison; and many other close friends and family members.
A Service of Remembrance with full military honors will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Saturday, December 18th at 10 AM followed by a reception at Lakeway Mobile Estates.
