Gertrude J. Heller, age 90, passed away peacefully in Bellingham on March 7, 2017. She was born on February 19, 1927 in Kendall, WA to Jacob and Johanna Franzen. Gertrude married Frank Heller on May 8, 1948 in Columbia Valley. She was a loving wife and mother and a proud grandmother. Gertrude was excited to keep the farm in the family for over 100 years. She enjoyed singing, keeping house, and was an avid gardener and farmer. She cooked at Deming Elementary for 14 years. Gertrude and Frank have been active, lifetime members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Deming. She was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Frank Heller and six children; Joe (Charlene) Heller, Ray Heller (Nancy Waligory), Tom (Kim) Heller, Ron (Debbie) Heller, Mary (Bruce) Vincent, and Mike (Joye) Heller, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many loving relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Deming. A Vigil Service will be held at Westford Funeral Home at 7 PM on Tuesday, March 14th. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 6210 Mt. Baker Highway in Deming, at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 15. Committal following at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
