Gil Seely, age 89 of Bellingham, died June 5, 2018. He was born on January 18, 1929 in Bellingham, WA to Arthur and Rosetta (Moseley) Seely. Gil grew up in Blaine, earned his B.S. from Harvard, earned his PhD from U.C. Berkeley, and was a career research chemist. He was married to the late Patricia A. Seely until her passing in 1967. Gil married Suzanne Hogarty on August 15, 1969 in Bellingham and they joined their two families together. They moved back to Bellingham in 2000 and were active members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where he sang in the choir, served on the flower guild and volunteered with the Maple Alley Inn community meal program. He was a lover of photography, astronomy, gardening, music and travel. Gil was blessed with many loving relatives and friends, and his intelligent wit and wisdom will be missed. He left this life as he lived it, quietly and peacefully. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia A. Seely and second wife Suzanne H. Seely. He is survived by his children from his first marriage, David (Mary), Dawna, Edward “Ned” (Lisa), and Robert Mark Seely, children of his second marriage, Anna, Timothy, Ellen and John Hogarty; 7 grandchildren, Elisabeth, Joseph, Kaleigh, Kyle, and Connor Seely, John Jr. and Stephanie Hogarty. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Monday, June 18 at 1:00pm followed by a reception. Memorials may be made to Maple Alley Inn or the St. Paul’s Endowment Fund.
