Gilda Gagne, age 83, went to be with her Lord on August 11, 2010 in Bellingham. She was born August 3, 1927 in Burley, Idaho, the 18th of 19 children born to John and Ellen Heacock. Gilda worked for many years as a dental assistant and bookkeeper in Bellingham. She married John Gagne on October 7th, 1961 in Bellingham. She enjoyed fishing, RVing, reading, spending time on Pender Island, and playing canasta twice a month with her card playing buddies at the Bellingham Country Club. She was a member of Chuckanut Toastmistress, ROAL, Maple Leaf Chapter OES, and past-president of the Senior Circle. Gilda was sweet, friendly, positive and outgoing.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Jacob Bright, 17 of her siblings and sister-in-law Marilyn Freeman and her husband Jack. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John, daughter Sherri Jerene (husband Ted) Parker, grandson Brett (wife Rachel) Parker and their children Jack, Kieran and Lucas, grandson Brandon Parker and his sons Joshua and Caleb, brother Melvin (wife May) Heacock, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity. A Celebration of Gilda’s life will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Friday, August 20th at 11 AM followed by a reception across the street at Westford’s Broadway Hall. The Rev. Kevin Bond Allen will be officiating.
