Gordon E. Tweit

June 4, 1926 — December 22, 2018

Gordy Tweit, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22nd at Whatcom Hospice House. He was born June 4, 1926 in Bellingham to Norman and Alice (Peterson) Tweit. Gordy graduated from Bellingham High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He went on to earn his degree in Pharmacy at the University of Washington. Gordy owned and operated the Fairhaven Pharmacy from 1962-1991. He also had his own museum in the basement of the pharmacy for many years. He enjoyed photography and enjoyed taking photos of community events and children on Halloween. Gordy was a longtime member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, the Elks Club, the Maritime Museum, and the American Legion. He was well known and well loved by his family and friends. Gordy was preceded in death by his sister Norma and his niece Linda. Gordy is survived by his sister Eloise, nephew Michael Sea (wife Patty), nieces Marilee Richards, Mary Jo Wilkins (husband Clark) and Cindy Rall, grandnephews and nieces Traci, Thom, Ken, Karen, Kim, Travis, Britt, Addison, Ric and Michael, and many loving relatives and friends. Services will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on Friday, January 4th at 11 AM followed by a reception. Committal will follow at Bayview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Whatcom Hospice House, and the Maritime Museum.
