Grace Reid, age 92, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, one month shy of her 93rd birthday. Grace was born to Thomas and Ruth Rocke on August 9, 1929 in Antler, ND. She graduated from Bellingham High School where she met the love of her life, Robert Reid. They were married on September 30, 1950 in Bellingham and spent the first eight years of their marriage in Seattle. In 1958 they returned to Bellingham to purchase the family business, Reid Boiler Works, which operated until 2011.The family enjoyed boating in the San Juans, summers at Lummi Island and Birch Bay Village, holiday gatherings and family trips to Hawaii, Palm Springs, and other warm places. Grace was an amazing homemaker who loved baking pies and cooking for the family. She was known as “Tete” to her 16 grandchildren, and soon to be 34 great-grandchildren. Every grandchild has a favorite memory of time spent with Tete. Grace’s favorite pastimes were hunting agates, catching crab with Robert, and digging clams on Lummi Island. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruth Rocke, Robert’s mother Ronnie “Gummie” Cannon, husband Robert Reid, daughters Christine Thompson and Georgene Reid, granddaughter Michelle Grace Fay, and son-in-law Casey Thompson. Grace is survived by her son Rick (Tammy) Zimmer, daughters Susan (Jim) Fay, Barbara Thompson, Karen Reid-Allen (Craig), and Melanie (John) Neate, grandchildren Michael S., Tori, Meggin, Michael Z., Rob, Jeff, Cody and Andrew, Jason, Evan, Mallory, Mackenzie, Niki, James, Jesse and Melissa, many great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
