She married Eugene D. Ahl on February 24, 1956. Helen was a graduate of the Grey Nuns School of Nursing in Regina, Saskatchewan, and worked as a registered nurse in hospitals during her early career in Canada and the U.S., and later in convalescent homes where she was known for truly seeing her patients and helping them enjoy quality of life. She was naturalized as a U.S. Citizen in 1964.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Ahl, her sister, Norma Begin, and her nephew, Allan Moffitt. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Robinson (Sam), Debbie Ahl (Bill Ziels), eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (with one on the way), three siblings, Kay, Shirley and Bob, nephew Jeff Kelley, whom she loved as a son, numerous nieces and nephews and children, and her very special cats, Bradley and Pastel.
Her daughters and grandchildren were raised on stories of Helen’s childhood on the Saskatchewan prairies, her dedication to her patients and her fun-loving spirit and escapades as a young nurse. Helen was an avid Seahawks fan, enjoyed weekly dinners with grandson Sean Robinson, wife Emily; granddaughter Melissa Gray and husband Jeff; breakfasts out with nephew Jeff Kelley, and traveling with grandchildren David, Casey and Megan Ohms and Matt, Ryan and Monica Ziels.
