Helen Jean Van Voorst

Jean Van Voorst, life resident of Bellingham, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018. Jean was 91, born in Bellingham on December 10, 1926 to George and Martha (Peters) Urness. She was an active member of the Bellingham Elks Emblem Club, was an avid reader and knitter, and volunteered for numerous local charities and non-profits. Jean was described by many as the sweetest and nicest person they ever met. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald Van Voorst in March 2009. She is survived by her children Gerrit (Jane) Van Voorst and Martha (Steve) Pittman; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Muriel Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 4th, 2018, at the Village at Cordata Club House.
