Bud Guckert, age 86 passed away July 3, 2011 at home in Custer. He was born October 16, 1924 in Columbus, OH to Frank and Emiline Guckert. Bud served in the U.S. Army during WWII, earning a Purple Heart and Silver Star for his service. He married Eugenia Estergreen on August 22, 1948 in Clearbrook, WA. Bud worked for Boeing for 39 years, retiring as a Production Control Supervisor. Bud enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time in Hawaii. He was a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion, and Zion Lutheran Church in Custer. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Irving Carlson, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eugenia, daughter Robin (Leonard) Hanley and their children Ryan and Meghan, son Jeff Guckert and his daughters Jessica and Jennifer and sisters Ann (Jim) Easton and Violet (Fred) Evans. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of WA or Zion Lutheran Church.
A Celebration of Bud’s life with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 8 at Zion Lutheran Church, 7215 Valley View Road in Ferndale.
