Henry Howard King, known as Henry Howard Edgmon in earlier years, was a victim of a homicide on March 12, 2023 near where he lived at Boulevard Park in Bellingham. He was born July 9,1974 to Barbara King and John Edgmon in Bellingham, WA. Henry was a kind, warm and adventurous child who made friends wherever he went. He loved to be in and on the water, fishing, swimming and wakeboarding. He was a natural athlete and an excellent skateboarder. Henry endured hardships in his early years, losing his mother at age 8 and his only other remaining relative, his grandmother at age 14. Henry was taken in by the paramedic, who responded to the call when his mother passed, and lived with his family in the years that followed. He attended Sehome High School. After graduation, he moved to Santa Barbara to pursue his dream of being a comedian. He returned to Bellingham, where we started a career in construction and built houses in the San Juan Islands. Living a conventional life was challenging for Henry due to past trauma and mental health challenges. These difficulties led him to become unhoused. Despite his hardship and challenges, Henry was a giver, a friend, a brother and protector to many. He was known within the community as the friendly Mayor of Taylor Dock, as he brightened everyone's day with conversation and a warm smile.
Henry was cherished by many and cultivated a strong community, built from his unquenchable thirst for sharing his joy with others. Even in the face of his own hardships and struggles, Henry remained steadfast in his core beliefs of bringing kindness and love to everyone he met.
